The Aquasonic Underwater Speaker (AQ339)

Pool, Spa and Outdoor ProductsDuring the early development of Clark Synthesis transducers, one of the design considerations the creators had in mind was using tactile sound technology to transmit sound through water. After several designs and modifications, the first underwater speaker from Clark Synthesis was successfully introduced in 1994 and the era of the world’s only full-frequency, full-fidelity underwater transducer had begun.

AQ339 SpeakerFrom that day forward, this underwater speaker, now branded as the Clark Synthesis Aquasonic Underwater Speaker, has been used in a multitude of applications. Perhaps the most common use is in recreational pools found in people’s backyards.

Since the Aquasonic can be easily integrated into a pool by either installing the speaker in a standard (large) light niche or by simply dropping it into the pool using a tether, homeowners have been able to give themselves the gift of clear, crisp, underwater sound. This ability has been especially appreciated by homeowners who use their pools on a regular basis for entertaining guests, exercising, and general recreational use. Additionally, children, who spend more time in the pool than perhaps any other member of the household, especially love being able to hear their favorite music while they swim and play.

SwimmersAnother group of water enthusiasts who have enjoyed using the Aquasonic Underwater Speaker are those who spend a great amount of time swimming laps. This group includes those who utilize lap swimming as an exercise regimen and those who are members of swim teams and leagues. By using the Aquasonic Underwater Speaker, lap swimmers are not only able to listen to music as they swim, but can also benefit from having a coach or trainer speak to them by using a microphone that is connected to the sound system. This aspect of training is helpful when lap swimmers are working to improve form, technique, and speed.

Similar to lap swimmers, many synchronized swim teams have discovered the benefits of using the Aquasonic Underwater Speaker for training and competitions. Since the Aquasonic delivers full-frequency sound (which is one of the main features that sets the Aquasonic apart from its competitors), synchronized swim teams are able to hear the full audio range of the music they have selected.

By being able to hear the low-frequency (bass) elements of music while they are below the water’s surface, and by having the sound of the underwater music match the music being played on the “air speakers,” synchronized swim teams are better able to stay in tempo with the beat of the music. This advantage can help take the teams’ performance to the next level.

Aquasonic is used at resorts and hotelsNot to be left out of the fun, some of the world’s premier hotels and resorts have installed the Aquasonic Underwater Speakers in their pools as an additional amenity for their guests. By providing full-frequency, full-fidelity music in their pools, these resorts are taking advantage of the “Wow!” factor that takes place when people experience underwater sound through Aquasonic speakers.

In addition to all of the previously-mentioned applications, the Aquasonic Underwater Speaker has also been used in popular Las Vegas water shows, Olympic training facilities, and animal research projects. Click here for more information on the AQ339.

The All-Weather Transducer (AW339)

AW339

During the evolution of the Clark Synthesis transducer line, the developers came up with the idea to create a transducer that was designed to withstand the challenging environmental conditions found around hot tubs, spas, whirlpools, boat hulls, and outdoor decks. Knowing that transducers could activate the materials used to construct these structures (usually fiberglass and wood), the developers created the AW339 All-Weather transducer. Today, this transducer offers its users the flexibility of a hidden mount paired with the gift of surprisingly-clear, full-frequency sound.

Relaxing

Clark Synthesis Products used in a tubUtilizing the same technology as the other tactile sound transducers produced by Clark Synthesis, the AW339 is used by several tub and spa manufacturers as a way to offer their customers the added enjoyment of listening to music while soaking their cares away.

This type of application is achieved by mounting the transducer directly to the back of the fiberglass used to construct the shell of the hot tub, spa, or whirlpool. Having the transducers mounted in this way, and being able to activate the surface material, eliminates the need to have external or pop-up speakers. Since fiberglass and water are both excellent conductors of sound waves, the music coming from the tub or whirlpool is crisp and clear.

Deck ProductsThe AW339 can also be used to activate wood structures, such as decks and boat hulls. Given the high resonant capabilities of wood, people’s decks and boats can themselves be turned into speakers that reproduce quality sound. This is achieved by simply attaching the AW339(s) to the main support beams of the structure. For those who want the enjoyment of music without having to hang or hide outdoor speakers, the All-Weather transducer may be a great alternative. Click here for more information on the AW339.
