SpyHunter is a remake of the classic arcade game. This all-new mission-based, action driving game for the Xbox console puts the player behind the wheel of the G-6155 Interceptor vehicle. Sporting the ultimate in counterintelligence features, this vehicle has multiple offensive and defensive weapons as well as morphing abilities. There are 14 missions in exotic locales for the player to complete in an effort to save the world from the evil president of NOSTRA International. In addition to the single player mode, there are also three mini-games available for play in a two-player mode.
The game is presented in a fullscreen (4:3) version that is not enhanced for widescreen monitors. The overall quality of the graphics is very good. Vehicles are well detailed and the numerous geographic locations at times take on a photo-realistic appearance. With the exception of occasional polygonal clipping, there are no major compression or other visual defects that we could observe.
Video Rating: 7 out of 10
SpyHunter offers audio in Dolby Digital 5.1 channel surround and the soundtrack makes good use of both the forward and rear channels. The music soundtrack is built around the Peter Gunn theme song and the game does not support burning custom soundtracks. The in-game sound effects, which consist of engines revving, tires squealing, vehicles exploding, etc., are clear and realistic sounding.
Audio Rating: 7 out of 10
